Lisa Gilman, MS, SLP
As a NY state licensed, Orton-Gillingham trained, speech language therapist, my focus is working with children and adolescents, aged 5-15, and their families to foster reading, writing, and communication skills in an engaging, compassionate, and meaningful manner. In addition to my language therapy practice, I am also a second grade teacher. As such, It is my goal to combine both of my passions to help students overcome challenges in the areas of:
Reading : Decoding, Comprehension, and Fluency
Phonics and Phonological Awareness
Writing
Attention Deficit Disorder
Executive Function Disorder
I believe that therapy sessions should be client-centered, motivating, and fun! I am familiar with, and incorporate, many New York City public and private school curriculums into my sessions. I understand that often times students with literacy and language difficulties become discouraged and disengaged readers and writers, which can make school-life difficult. I aim to provide students with the skills and confidence they need to be successful in school.
